My Story

The process of pregnancy and labor is primal and allows us to reach within to connect with our ancestors as birth is as old as the earth. I aim to center and educate families of color on the power of their bodies and remind them that with community support, there is nothing on this earth they cannot do. I offer evidence-based care along with intuitive and traditional forms of healing to honor familial traditions that encourage long periods of rest. I create safe spaces by offering non-judgmental support throughout pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum period to allow you and your support team to feel relaxed and supported in your decisions. Lastly I believe that everyone deserves to have individualized care as the journey of parenthood is not one size fits all.

Atabey Doula Services was founded in 2021 with a mission to provide birth support and education to families of color in the NYC and Long Island areas whether birthing at home, in a birthing center, or a hospital. Currently, we are working on establishing the business and client services while also volunteering with Ancient Song Doula Services.

My fascination with birth and the amazing human body began when I was 17. Flash forward 13 years later, I decided to pursue Doula training with Ancient Song Doula Services. I am so happy to have committed to this work full time. Birthwork is something that I am truly passionate about and I cannot wait to show you all of the amazing things you are capable of.

When I am not in my doula role, you can find me outdoors in my garden or exercising, practicing yoga, baking/cooking, and reading. Traveling is one of my favorite things to do especially when it comes to going back to my roots in the Dominican Republic. One of my dreams is to backpack around DR getting to know the different regions of my beautiful island.
